These Classic Flat Pads feature
Constant Pressure technology.
|
|
These pads incorporate the soft blue Constant Pressure™ backing for
better coverage and a softer feel.
Constant pressure may
not be good for people, but it's great for polishing pads where you want a
uniform and constant pressure on the surface being polished. Professionals
have learned through experience to keep their machines parallel to the
surface being polished. Tilting the machine in any direction can
result in an uneven and excessive pressure being transferred to the
painted surface. |

|
|
Blue "Constant
Pressure" foam backing
absorbs unwanted polishing motions. |
|
This patented Constant Pressure technology uses a layer of
engineered, instant rebound foam between the pad and the backing plate to absorb
off-axis movements while keeping the pressure of the pad on the surface
constant. NOTE:
The Gold Concours Finishing Pad does not have the Constant Pressure, blue
foam layer. The gold foam is so soft it is not required. |
|
Here's a guide to help you
select the correct pad for your needs: |
|
Yellow 4 inch Flat Compounding Pad - More aggressive
cutting action than the white pad. Use this pad to compound older vehicles with
a dull, chalky or neglected finish.
Use this pad with
caution. Compounding can
dull the surface (called compounding haze) which will require additional finish
polishing to remove. |
 |
|
Orange 4 inch Flat Polishing Pad -
This German foam has 90% of the cutting power of conventional compounding
pads but finishes like the White Polishing Pad.
Use this pad on painted
surfaces with
Menzerna Intensive Polish to remove 2000 grit swirls and defects with
minimal or no surface dullness, or with Menzerna
Final Polish II to remove finer swirls. |

|
| White 4 inch Flat Polishing Pad -
The most often used pad. This pad has a mild cutting (cleaning) action and
should be used to apply light compounds, swirl removing polishes, and
finishing polishes.
Use this Hi-Gloss
White Polishing Pad with
Menzerna Intensive Polish to remove
deeper swirls and with
Menzerna Final Polish II or BLACKFIRE
Gloss Enhancing Polish to maximize surface gloss. |
 |
|
Green 4 inch Flat Polishing Pad - Green foam offers a
mild polishing power yet leaves the surface with a high gloss finish. It is
excellent on German finishes including the new scratch-resistant clear
coats.
This is
the best pad
for applying one-step, polish/sealants like Menzerna
Acrylic Jacket, Klasse All-In-One and
Autoglym Super
Resin Polish.
|
 |
|
Black 4 inch Flat Glazing/Finessing Pad - This pad has
no cutting or cleaning action. It should be used to apply a glaze or a finessing
polish.
Use this Hi-Gloss
Black Glazing Pad to apply
Menzerna Finishing
Touch Glaze, 3M Imperial Hand
Glaze, and Meguiar's No. 7 Show Car
Glaze. You can
also use this pad to apply Meguiar's No. 3 Machine Polish
and 3M Finesse-It II
Machine Polish. |
 |
|
Red 4 inch Flat Glazing/ Finessing/Finishing Pad - Like the black pad, this red pad has no cutting or
cleaning action but is softer than the black pad. It
can be used to apply a glaze, a finessing polish or a finishing sealant.
Some detailers and body shops use
both a machine polish and a glaze. Having two colors of glazing pads
allows them to dedicate a specific color pad for a specific product to
avoid cross contamination. |
 |
|
Gold 4 inch Flat Finishing Pad - This is the
world's softest foam making it the absolute best pad for leaving a perfect layer
of liquid wax or sealant for the utmost in reflection.
This foam is designed to
disperse wax and sealants more evenly than other foams. This is why this foam
can apply your final product more evenly. The more uniform the final finish the
greater the shine. |

|
Proper
Cleaning - Wash foam pads in a bucket of car wash, soapy water (or use Snappy
Clean Pad Cleaner), rinse thoroughly, hand
squeeze out excess water and allow to air dry. Do not clean
pads or soak pads in dishwashing soap (Dawn) or laundry
detergents. |
Hook and Loop Back-Up Plates - These pads
have a VELCRO® brand fastening system that require your machine be fitted with a
3.5 inch "hooked" backing plate for
orbital
polishers, and 3.75 inch plate for rotary polishers.
Different machines
require different backing plates. Dual-action polishers like the Porter
Cable 7424 and 7336 require a plate with a 5/16"-24 threaded shaft. This is
our part number FBP-35DA.
Professional circular
polishers require a plate with a 5/8-11 receptacle. This is our part
number FBP-375C.
