Got Foam?
The Gilmour Foam Gun lays a thick blanket of frothy foam soap that attacks, penetrates, and loosens dirt from the surfaces of your vehicle using your favorite shampoo. Simply attach the nozzle to the hose, the Gilmour Foam gun to the nozzle, and cover your vehicle in a shower of foam. Your vehicle will love you for it! No expensive specialty soaps or pressure washers needed.
It's better to float your dirt away on a foam river then grind it into the paint!
Why foam? The Gilmour Foam Gun whips your favorite car soap into a thick lather that clings to your painted surfaces. This
allows the surfactants and cleaning agents in the soap to attack and encapsulate dirt and sharp grime. The encapsulated
dirt is lifted making it easier to remove with a greatly reduced risk of scratching the paint.
The Gilmour Foam Gun is the ultimate pre-soak prior to washing a dirty vehicle, or one with scratch sensitive paint. Most of us rinse our vehicle with water to remove loose dirt and grime prior to washing.
Why a good practice? Water by itself isn't very slippery and has a high surface tension.
By pre-soaking your vehicle in foam, soap is given the time necessary to attack and loosen existing dirt. Spray on a thick lather of foam and allow to dwell for 2 to 5 minutes, prior to pre-rinsing and washing.
Why Gilmour? We are proud to carry the Gilmour name because we strongly feel they are the highest quality Foam Guns on the market. Our Gilmour Foam Guns feature the highest quality components including brass fittings and a brass metering rod.
General Directions for use
Fill the bottle with your favorite car soap and water solution. Every car soap will produce different foam results, but as a starting point, mix eight parts water to one part soap. We recommend adding the water first to avoid causing the solution to pre foam in the bowl.

Attach the pistol-grip nozzle to the hose, then the sprayer to the nozzle. Make sure the pick up tube is installed in the sprayer. Screw bowl into the sprayer and foam away.
Settings: The Gilmour Foam Gun has 5 settings, controlled by a slide bar at the top of the sprayer, with a corresponding
hole at the top. When the middle hole is engaged, the ratio of soap water solution
picked up is 4 ounces per gallon of sprayed water.
By pushing the bar to
the left, and engaging the right most whole, the ratio of soap solution is increased to 12 ounces of solution per gallon which will dramatically increase the amount of soap and foam in the spray. By pushing the bar to the right, and engaging the second to the left most hole, the solution is reduced to 1 ounce per gallon. Engaging the left most hole will stop the foaming action all together. We recommend starting with the middle selection, and adjusting left or right to achieve the desired foam results with a particular soap.
To get the right ratio of soap to water use
an Accurate Measure
Dispensing Bottle to exactly measure the soap needed so you reduce
wasting money.
Pre Bath:
Use approximately 1 ounce of your favorite high foaming car soap such as
Eimann Fabrik
Gentle Shampoo per 8 ounces of water in the bowl. Prior to rinsing the vehicle with water, spray on a thick blanket of foam over all exterior surfaces and allow foam to dwell for two to five minutes.
Rinse foam solution from the vehicle completely, then proceed to wash in a normal fashion using two buckets with
Grit Guards, a high quality soap, and a high quality wash mitt or sponge.
Car Wash: Use approximately 1 ounce of your favorite high foaming car soap such as
Eimann Fabrik Gentle Shampoo per 8 ounces of
water in the bowl. Fill a five gallon bucket up with water and a
Grit Guard to be used to rinse the wash mitt or sponge after each
panel.
Pre bath and rinse vehicle completely to remove all loose dirt safely. Spray foam on to the wash mitt directly to prime it with soap prior to each section, then spray a section with foam. Use the foam gun as you wash to flood dirt off the surface. Once the entire section has been lightly washed, rinse surface of soapy water. Move on to the next section and continue until the car is completely washed.
Remove the nozzle and Gilmour Foam Gun assembly and flood the paint with a steady steam of water to facilitate the drying procedure.
Dry completely with a Big Blue III Drying Towel.
