THE best polish for standard and scratch-resistant clear coats.

The winds of change are blowing in automotive clear coat technology. In 2005, Mercedes Benz started using a nano, ceramic particle, clear coat and in 2006 domestic automakers will start using a super-hard, scratch-resistant clear coat developed by both PPG and BASF.

These new clear coats are scratch-resistant, not scratch proof. They can still be scratched and spotted. The problem is polishing, or removing defects in these new, super-hard clear coats. Conventional polishes may not have the cutting power to remove swirls, spots and defects in these new coatings. To our knowledge, no domestic polish manufacturer has developed a polish that is approved at the OEM level for use on these super-hard, scratch-resistant clear coats.

In 2005, we approached Menzerna of Germany and asked them to create a state-of-the-art, ceramic clear coat polishes for the enthusiast aftermarket. Menzerna, working with Mercedes Benz, developed a compound and polish to remove defects in the new nano, ceramic particle clear coats. These polishes are currently used at the OEM level in various auto manufacturing plants world wide and are considered within the polishing industry to be the most advanced polishes in the world.

The result of the Menzerna-Blackfire collaboration is BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear, Finishing Polish. This formula offers the do-it-yourself, enthusiast a number of advantages:

Black Fire Finishing Polish

It will restore gloss and remove minor defects in nano, ceramic particle clear coats.
It will restore gloss and remove minor defects in the new, 2006, super-hard, scratch resistant clear coats.
It can be applied by hand, dual-action polisher or circular polisher. (Machine application is required for maximum defect removal in ceramic particle clear coats.)

We believe this to be the most advanced, consumer, finishing polish currently available.

S.R.C. Finishing Polish will remove any existing wax or sealant and burnish the finish to a mirror-like shine. Applied by machine, it will remove 2500 grit swirls, spots and scratches without hazing the finish.

NOTE: This polish works wonders on older clear coats, especially when applied with the Green, German Polishing Pad. We now whole heartedly recommend BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish for use on all clear coat finishes.

Applying S.R.C. Finishing Polish by hand:

For best results, apply with a Power Scrubber, Microfiber Applicator pad.
Apply a Quarter sized amount of polish to the pad.
Mist the pad once with pad lubricant or water.
Work on areas of 2 to 3 sq. ft., out of direct sunlight.
Wipe polish over surface using short, firm, strokes until polish starts to dry.
Allow a haze to form.
Buff off residues by hand using a Microfiber Buffing Cloth.

Black Fire Finishing Polish

Applying S.R.C. Finishing Polish with a dual-action, machine polisher: (Porter Cable 7424)

Work on areas of 3 to 6 sq. ft., (1/2 of the hood), out of direct sunlight.
Apply using a CCS Technology White or Green Foam Polishing Pad. (This pad requires your machine polisher be equipped with a 6 inch Hook-and-Loop Backing Plate.)
Mist pad once with Foam Pad Lubricant or water.
Apply two, 8 inch lines of polish on the paint.

Black Fire Finishing Polish

   5.   Using the foam pad, spread polish over the surface with the machine
          off. (This coats both the pad and the surface with polish.)
   6.   If using the Porter Cable 7424 polisher, set the speed control between
         3-1/2 and 4.
   7.   Place foam pad on the paint and turn the polisher on.
   8.   Work over the surface in a figure 8 motion until the polish starts to dry.
   9.   Buff off residues by hand using a Microfiber Buffing Cloth.

Applying S.R.C. Finishing Polish with a circular, machine polisher:

Work on areas of 3 to 6 sq. ft., (1/2 of the hood), out of direct sunlight.
Apply using a CCS Technology White or Green Foam Polishing Pad.
Mist pad once with Foam Pad Lubricant or water.
Apply two, 8 inch lines of polish on the paint.

   5.   Using the foam pad, spread polish over the surface with the machine
          off. (This coats both the pad and the surface with polish.)
   6.   Set the speed control at 1,000 rpm.
   7.   Place foam pad on the paint and turn the polisher on.
   8.   Work over the surface in a figure 8 motion until the paint starts to dry.
   9.   Buff off residues by hand using a Microfiber Buffing Cloth.

After final buffing, open all doors, the hood and trunk and wipe body panel edges. Mist a detail brush with a quick-detail spray or residue remover and brush around emblems. Larger body moldings and wheel arch moldings can be cleaned with a quick-detail spray or residue remove or do what body shops do, mask off these moldings before you start polishing. Soak dirty foam pads in a bucket of soapy water (or with Snappy Clean Pad Cleaner), agitate pads with your fingers, rinse with fresh water, hand squeeze out excess water and allow pads to air dry.

After polishing, finish with a coat of your favorite wax or sealant. BLACKFIRE S.R.C. Finishing Polish is VOC compliant in all 50 states.
